Refer back to the ‘For Families’ section of our website for important announcements, school documents, contact information, and other parent resources. www.kenchild.org/families

+ What is the school schedule? How can I find out about cancellations and holidays?

ALL students will attend school from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday unless otherwise specified. You can refer back to the school calendar anytime at www.kenchild.org/families

KCC uses emails and Robocalls to communicate with families. Keeping your contact information up to date with us is the most important thing you can do to ensure that you do not miss important school announcements such as school closures.

+ Are breakfast and lunch provided?

KCC provides both breakfast and lunch at school. Our menu is kid-friendly and nutritionist approved!

  • Visit www.kenchild.org/families to see our current menu
  • Please do not send food or beverages from home to school. Our nutrition team can accommodate picky eaters and most special dietary needs.

+ Is transportation provided to KCC students?

Transportation services are available to all KCC students by the NYCDOE Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT).

  • KCC does not directly provide or oversee bussing services. Any questions or concerns regarding your child’s transportation should be directed to your child’s bus company or NYCDOE Office of Pupil Transportation.
  • Starting/resuming bussing services: The bus company representative will contact you about pick up and drop off times. Sometimes your child’s assigned bus company will not get in touch with you until the day before busing services are set to begin.
  • Please use the contact information on our school contact sheets (available at www.kenchild.org/families) to contact your child’s bus company or the NYCDOE Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT):

+ Can parents/guardians/family members pick-up/drop-off my child at school?

Yes. Parents may drop off children at school at 8:45 AM and pick up at 2:30 PM.

  • If your child usually takes the bus, please inform us by 2 PM of any change to afternoon pick-up.
  • Any changes to pick up/drop off must be made with the bus company.
  • Always inform the school when your address changes and/or emergency contact has changed.

+ What if my child is sick/absent?

Please call the school (or email teacher) if your child is going to be absent. KCC will call you by 10:00 AM if your child is absent and we have not heard from you.

+ What should my child bring to school?

On the first day of school, please send your child to school with a change of clothes to be kept in their cubby at school.

  • If your child is not toilet trained, please include extra diapers.
  • Don’t forget to LABEL any belongings sent to school with your child!
